Abstract

       The purposes of this predictive correlational study were to determine 1) The relationship between family relationship, self-esteem and problem coping behavior.  2) Factors predicting problem coping behavior among nursing students. The subjects were 278 first year to fourth year nursing students of Police Nursing College in the Academic year, 2020. The research instruments consisted of a personal data questionnaire, family relationships self-esteem and coping behavior. The reliability were 0.89, 0.81 and 0.87 respectively. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression analysis

       The study results showed that

            1. There was a positive correlation among family relationship, self–esteem and coping behavior of nursing students statistically significant (r= .467, p<.01, r=.392, p<.01), respectively. 

            2. Family relationship and self- esteem were able to jointly predict the coping behavior of nursing students by 25.2% (2 adj=.252, p<.01). Self-esteem was able to predict the coping behavior of the highest students (β =.362, p<.01), followed by Family relationship (β= .213, p< .01), respectively.

       Therefore, activities that promote self-esteem together with strengthening good family relationships would result in students nurse having appropriate coping behaviors.
