The instrument consisted of 4 components: the health promotion program for new pulmonary tuberculosis patients, the questionnaire about pulmonary tuberculosis knowledge, self-efficacy questionnaire, and the self-care behavior questionnaire. The data were then analyzed by using descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics using t-test.

The study results revealed as follows:

          2. Comparison of mean scores on knowledge, self-efficacy, and self-care behaviors after participating in the program. It was found that the mean scores of all aspects of both groups were statistically significantly different (p<.01, p< .01 and p<.01, respectively).

According to the research results, the developed health promotion program can encourage new pulmonary tuberculosis patients to be educated to gain knowledge, self-efficacy and self-care behaviors. Therefore, health promotion programs should be applied to all new pulmonary tuberculosis patients, continuously monitored, and evaluated for further sustainability.
