The Effect of Using Health Education Programs to Promote Health Literacy and Health Behavior 3E 2S in AIDS Patients at Antiretroviral Clinic, Banpong Hospital

Abstract

     The quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effectiveness of the health education program model for enhancing health literacy and health behaviors according to 3E or.2S. The sample was AIDS patients aged 20-60 years who were treated at an antiretroviral drug clinic. Banpong Hospital 30 simples were AIDS patients who were selected by purposive sampling. The research tool was the health education program to enhance health literacy and health behaviors 3E.2S. The questionnaire for assessing were health literacy and health behaviors according to 3E.2S. The data were analyzed by using Paired –T test statistics , The results showed after using the health education program model the sample group had increase level of health cognition according to 3E.2S. There was a statistically significant difference from the pre-test (p-value <0.001). Regarding the decision skill of 3E.2S., it was found that the sample group had more decision skill decisions in all issues.  

     The results of the research showed that the health education program can enhance health literacy and health behaviors according to 3E.2S. Therefore, the health education program should be applied to AIDS patients in outpatient clinics and should be continuously monitored and evaluated for further sustainability.
