The commitment of professional nurses to the organization Pak Tho Hospital

Abstract

       The objectives of this descriptive research were to study 1) level of the organizational commitment of professional nurses, 2)factors related to organizational commitment of professional nurses, and 3)factors predicting organizational commitment of professional nurses Pak Tho Hospital. The sample consisted of 55 professional nurses. The research instruments was  questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results were revealed as follows:

           1. The overall level of organizational commitment of professional nurses was at high level. For considering in terms, attempt and devotion to work, maintain the organizational citizenship and a part of organization were at high level.

          2. Motivation factors such as job characteristics, career advancement, hygiene factors such as job security, work interaction, welfare and compensation, and working environmental were significantly positively correlated with organizational commitment of professional nurses (r-valued between .44 and .63).

          3. Hygiene Factors for job security, welfare and compensation, and work interaction were able to predict organizational commitment of professional nurses at 31.70% (R2adj =.317, p<.01).

      Therefore, hospital administrators should promote adequate and fair compensation, improve organizational climate Moreover, nursing administrators should be improve job characteristics to fit in their knowledge, abilities, prepare the sufficient of personnel to make the professional nurses were happy in their work.
