Cost Analysis of Balloon Angioplasty in Cardiovascular Catheterization Unit, Police General Hospital

Abstract

      The purpose of this descriptive study was to analyze the cost of balloon angioplasty in the Cardiovascular Catheterization Unit, Police General Hospital.  The sample was cost report of 210 patients undergoing balloon angioplasty.  The research instrument was the cost record form of balloon angioplasty.  The content validity checked for IOC values was ​​between 0.66-1.00. The data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and unit cost analysis. The results revealed that the cost overview for balloon angioplasty activities in the cardiovascular catheterization unit  in fiscal year 2021 consisted of 1) investment costs, the total amount was 42,916,854 baht consisting of medical supplies, equipment, unit specific medical supplies, and consumable cost, 2) labor cost , the total amount was 8,703,240 baht consisting of  labor cost for staff in the operating unit and physician's fees for coronary angioplasty balloon surgery, 3) utility costs, the total amount was 1,181,851.96 baht consisting of water bill, electricity bill, and laundry fee.  The analysis of cost per unit was 117,598.99 baht per person, the patients paid for the medical procedures about 57,716.04 baht per person, the difference cost was 59,882.95 baht.

      Therefore, the nursing administrators in the Cardiovascular Catheterization Unit should take the results of coronary angioplasty cost analysis into consideration in planning the budget management in the next fiscal year to optimize the management of costs and resources in the department.
