Relationship between perceptions of health belief Model and behavior in using emergency medical services among elieuts of Damnoensaduak Hospital

The descriptive research objectives of this study were to 1) the level of perception according to health belief model and the use of emergency medical services of patients at Damnoen Saduak Hospital. 2) to study the relationship between perceptions according to the health belief model and the use of emergency medical services of patients at Damnoen Saduak Hospital The sample group consisted of 150 patients, relatives and referrals of patients who came to the emergency department. The research instrument was questionnaire divided into 3 parts include; use of emergency medical services, questionnaire to assess perceptions of risk opportunities and questionnaire of perceptions in benefits and obstacles. The reliability of total scale was 0.86. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean, standard deviation. and Chi-square analysis. The results showed that
1. The patients, relatives and referrals used emergency medical services when there was an emergency was at the moderate level (M= 7.11, SD= 1.44). The perceived risks opportunities and severity and perceptions in benefits and barriers were at the moderate level (M= 85.82, SD= 6.18; M= 32.44, SD= 4.15) respectively.
2. The Perceived risks and severity and perceived benefits and barriers were significantly correlated to the use of emergency medical services of patients at Damnoen Saduak Hospital.
Therefore, there should be creating of perceptions in seventy of illness benefits, and obstacles in order to encourage people to have more access to the medical service system.
