Education health literacy of type 2 diabetes millitus patients in the area of responsibility of city community health center, Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital

The purpose of this research was to study the health literacy of type 2 diabetic patients. The sample was 96 type 2 diabetic patients, which was a selective sampling. The reliability of research instrument including knowledge of health literacy assessment was 0.89, the health literacy questionnaire was 0.86, and the decision for practice was 0.70. Data were analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation statistics and F-test. The results showed that
1. All aspects of health literacy were at fair level, except for the knowledge and understanding of health practices was at a poor level.
2. Comparison of health literacy by gender was found that a significant difference at the level of 0.05. When comparing were 3 pairs of differences namely: 1) patients 40-44 years old and 2) patients 45-49-years-old 2) 40-44-years-olds and 50-54 years-olds and 3) 40-44-years-old and 55-59-years-olds.
Therefore, guidelines for promoting health literacy should provide age-appropriate activities and focus on building knowledge about the disease and how to practice in order to be able to use it to modification behavior properly in the future.
