Factor Affecting Organizational Commitment of the Personnel in Sam Roi Yod Hospital, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province

Abstract

The purposes of this descriptive research were to 1)  to study the level of organizational commitment, attitude towards the organization, participatory management and social support of personnel and 2) to study factors affecting organizational commitment of personnel in Sam Roi Yod Hospital, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The sample group consisted of 95 personnel. The research instrument was an organizational commitment questionnaire, divided into 5 dimensions, including personal information, attitude towards the organization, participatory management, social support and organizational commitment.Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The results were found:

1.  The overall of organizational commitment, attitude towards the organization and social support were at a moderate level (M = 3.34, SD=0.54; M= 3.18, SD=0.49; M= 2.81, SD=0.62, respectively) and the overall of participatory management was at low level (M= 2.47, SD = 0.50). 

2. Attitude towards the organization was the most statistically significantly predicted organizational commitment (β=.720, p< .01). All of 3 variables can statistically significantly predict organizational commitment at 40 percent (R2adj = .674 , p<.01).

Therefore, promoting organizational commitment among personnel should focus on creating a positive attitude towards the organization together with providing opportunities for personnel to participatory management and show their support in various areas to personnel in the agency to create encouragement and engagement that will have a positive effect on work performance.
