Development of a Training Curriculum for Retinal Patients nursing care to Enhance Systematic Creative Thinking Processes and Humanize Health Care for Register Nurses

Abstract

This research aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of a short course training curriculum designed for registered nurses providing care to patients with retinal disease to promote creative systematic thinking and humanized health care. The sample group consisted of 26 registered nurses who attended a short-term training course for nursing care with retinal patients Research instruments consisted of nursing care for patients with retinal tests, creative systematic thinking skills, humanized health care assessment forms, dialogue record forms, and self-reflection forms. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon test, and qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. The research results found that:

1. The mean score of knowledge for nursing care patients with retinal disease after the training was significantly higher than before the training at the .01 level.

2. The mean score of knowledge, attitude, and practical skills on creative systematic thinking and humanized health care after the training was significantly higher than before the training at the .01 level.

Therefore, program managers should follow up on the quality of creative systematic thinking and humanized health care of the trainees when they return to work in the area to follow up on the outcome. Additionally, there should be a promotion of training in creative systematic thinking processes and human service minds in other courses.
