Results of Basic Stack Training on Development of Motor Ability on Eye-Hand Coordination by Health Stack Program of the Elderly Club, SongkwaeSub District, Doi Lor District, Chiang Mai Province

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study employed a pretest–posttest control group design to examine the effects of a basic Stack training program on eye–hand coordination in older adults. The study was conducted among members of an elderly club in Song Khwae Subdistrict, Doi Lo District, Chiang Mai Province. A purposive sampling method was applied to recruit 60 participants, who were equally assigned to an experimental group and a control group (n = 30 each). Research instruments included a basic Stack training program duration 8 weeks, the eye–hand coordination test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics included the mean, standard deviation, and the t-test with a statistical significance level of .05. The research findings showed that:

After the intervention, participants’ eye–hand coordination improved from a low level (50.00%) to a high level (73.30%), with a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < .001). Additionally, participants reported the highest level of satisfaction with the training program (M = 4.90, SD = 0.31).

In conclusion, the basic Stack training program is an effective approach for enhancing eye–hand coordination in older adults. This skill is essential for daily functioning and fall prevention. Therefore, the program should be promoted as part of community-based health promotion activities for older adults to sustainably improve their quality of life.
