Effects of Self-Efficacy Enhancement Program for the Village Health Volunteers on Knowledge, Skills of Dementia Assessment in the Elderly of Village Health Volunteers at Phra Achan Sub-District, Ongkharak District, Nakhon Nayok Province

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of a capacity-building program for village health volunteers on knowledge and skills in assessing dementia in the elderly. The sample size were 30 village health volunteers. The research instrument were the capacity-building program for village health volunteers and the assessment form. The assessment form was divided into 3 sections: demographic data, knowledge about dementia in the elderly, and skills in assessing dementia in the elderly. The reliability of the knowledge assessment and the skills assessment of dementia assessment form approached by KR. 20 was 0.84 and 0.82, respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, and t-test. The results revealed as follows:
After entering the program, the average score of about brain degeneration and the skills of assessing dementia in the elderly in the post-trial period was higher. The pre-experiment period was statistically significantly. (p <.05).
In conclusion, public health volunteers should be prepared to assess dementia in the elderly risk together with the promotion of dementia in the elderly assessment skills to increase the potential to care for people at risk in their work.
