Fun rotating feet reduce numbness in diabetic patients

This research aimed to develop an innovative foot massage device to reduce numbness in the feet and to study user satisfaction with the innovation. The sample group consisted of 28 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. The innovation was developed based on Orem’s Self-Care Theory, which emphasizes individuals’ ability and awareness to consistently practice self-care in order to reduce foot numbness and prevent other foot complications that may occur in diabetic patients. The research instruments consisted of a general information questionnaire, pre-and post-use records of the innovation, and a satisfaction questionnaire regarding the use of the innovation. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results revealed that:
1. The innovation was made of plastic with a strong and durable structure.
2. Overall satisfaction of the sample group after testing the innovation was at a high level in all aspects (M = 2.92, SD = 0.12). The highest mean score was for the structural design of the innovation (M = 2.97, SD = 0.05), followed by the benefits and usability of the innovation (M = 2.88, SD = 0.19).The innovation had an appropriate structure and design, was made from durable materials, was convenient to move, practical for actual use, provided relaxation and comfort to the feet, and was able to reduce foot numbness.
