The Results of the Educational Program about Electronic Cigarettes through the LINE Application Toward Knowledge and Attitudes about Electronic Cigarettes among Junior High School Students

This quasi-experimental study aimed to examine the results of the educational program about electronic cigarettes through the LINE application toward knowledge and attitudes about electronic cigarettes among junior high school students. The participants were junior high school students in Mueang District, Chainat Province. The study was conducted between December 2024 and January 2025. A purposive sampling method was used to select 60 students, who were equally divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The control group received the usual health education provided by the school, while the experimental group received the educational program about electronic cigarettes through the LINE application for a period of eight weeks. The research instruments included the electronic cigarette educational program and a questionnaire assessing knowledge and attitudes toward electronic cigarettes. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and t-tests. The results revealed that after the intervention, the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher mean scores of knowledge and attitudes toward electronic cigarettes compared with those before the intervention (p < 0.001) and also significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.001).
These findings indicate that the electronic cigarette educational program delivered through the LINE application was effective in enhancing knowledge and promoting appropriate attitudes toward electronic cigarettes among junior high school students. The program may be applied as a health promotion strategy and a preventive approach to reduce risk behaviors among adolescents.
