The quasi-experimental research aimed to develop comprehensive care for one-day surgery and examine the effectiveness of nursing care by using comprehensive care for one-day surgery. The sample consisted of 10 registered nurses and 60 patients in Ratchaburi Hospital by using purposive sampling.Instruments were employed to collect data that comprised the guideline of comprehensive care for one-day surgery, an appropriate evaluation of the guideline of comprehensive care for one-day surgery questionnaire, and the nursing outcome form. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, standard deviation, and independent t-test.
The results revealed as follows: 1) The outcomes of nursing care in the experimental group for the incidence of complications after surgery within 24 hours and Incidence complications within one week were at the qualifying level. 2) Average scores for incidence of complications after surgery within 24 hours of the experimental group were significantly lower than a control group at the level of .05 (p<.05). 3) Average scores for incidence complications within one week of the experimental group were significantly lower than a control group at the level of .05 (p<.05).
Therefore, care for the patients who receive one day surgery services should be comprehensive care, from pre – operation preparation to follow-up sessions to reduce incidence of post-operative complications.
