Abstract

This research is a cross-sectional analytical study. The objectives are to study the level of behavior of preventing kidney complications and  the factors related to the behavior of preventing kidney complications and to study hypertensive patients. The sample consists of 360 uncontrolled hypertensive patients who received treatment at sub-district health promotion hospitals and hospitals under the Ministry of Public Health in Phetchaburi Province, between October and December 2024. They were selected by purposive sampling according to the specified eligibility criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire that was tested for reliability by a qualified person. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and inferential statistics and multiple regression analysis.

The research results found that the sample group had a high level of kidney complication prevention behavior in terms of predisposing factors, enabling factors, reinforcing factors, and kidney complication prevention behavior of hypertensive patients, at 80 percent or more. From the analysis of factors related to kidney complication prevention behavior of hypertensive patients with uncontrolled blood pressure, it was found that gender and age of patients were not significantly related to kidney complication prevention behavior, while marital status had a statistically significant negative relationship (p < .001). Average monthly income had a positive relationship with kidney complication prevention behavior (p < .001). In terms of environmental support factors, it was found that enabling factors had a significant positive relationship (p < .001), indicating that support from family, community, and health care system helped strengthen patients’ complication prevention behavior. However, predisposing factors and reinforcing factors were not significantly related
