Abstract

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare inflammatory skin disease, which characterized by tender nodule, plaque, or sterile pustule that rapid progression into a painful, necrotic ulcer with undermined border and after treatment, the ulcer will regresses with cribriform mutilating scar. Ulcers in sites of minor trauma are common. The most common affected site is lower extremities. PG may also involve extracutaneous sites such as the eye, lung, hepatobiliary system, lymph node, and musculoskeletal system. It can be classified into 5 types: classic (ulcerative), bullous, pustular vegetative and peristomal type. Approximately 50% of the patients with PG have underlying systemic diseases. As the histopathological findind of PG are not specific, the diagnosis requires clinicopathological correlation and exclusion of the other cause. We report an ulcerative type pyoderma gangrenosum on the face in a patient who has no associated malignancy or systemic diseases, a rare case report in Asian.
