Abstract

Deep dermatophytosis is a rare condition in which the dermatophyte invades the deep dermis, subcutaneous fat or internal organs. Most cases were reported in immunocompromised patients. We report a case of deep dermatophytosis caused by Trichophyton rubrum in a 39-year-old healthy Thai male who had multiple chronic ulcerative skin lesions. The patient was treated with itraconazole 200 mg/day for 7 months, resulting in complete clearance of the lesions with no recurrence.
