The Innovative Electrocardiogram drape: ECG drape

Abstract

      ECG room, Narathiwat Rajanagarindra Heart Center is responsible for providing ECG services to outpatients and inpatients of Songkhla Nakarin Hospital. The ECG service use the Electrocardiogram (ECG) machine with 10 leads, consisting of four limb leads and six chest leads. The ECG is done in a dedicated ECG room, with a curtain. However, the upper body is exposed to the staff especially female clients who will be shy and feel inconvenience. With the number of 150-200 service recipients who per day and the limitation of the number of staff, the team of inventors has therefore developed innovations that are suitable for work practices and to protect patients' rights according to professional ethics. The chest drape is used as a form of covering the body during ECG. This results in reducing the examination time, being easy, convenient, fast, and increasing the satisfaction of female clients.

     The innovative chest drape for ECG (ECG drape) is an innovation that opens the upper body as needed to conduct ECG in female clients. By using a design thinking framework, it is developed to protect the rights of patients and not to expose the body more than necessary. Fourteen service providers had good satisfaction scores in terms of convenience and speed of service. This innovation can reduce body exposure and increase satisfaction for both clients and service providers.
