Situation of health promotion in primary school.

Abstract

Dental Health Division, Department of Health, evaluated the situation of school health program, the result will be baseline data for improvement. Questionnaire were sent to sampling group 6,020 government primary schools.

37.2% responded, 31.1% were health teachers, 70.5% of schools had only 1 health teacher, mean of health student leaders were 14.8 perschool. The last record for oral examination were 62.9% in year 2546 and 36.0% in 2547. 27% of schools shared the record with community hospital and health center. 52.9% of large size school managed the after lunch brushing, 48.2% of schools performed toothbrushing. Toothbrush and toothpaste funds in school were 25.7%, Dental personnel managed dental service at school 24.7%. 14.8% taking students to hospital for treatment

There were food stalls around the school 2.4 sites per school, maximum were 20 sites, School with canteen were 82.1%. The cook had been trained 43%. Situation of school toilet, the toilet were 9.3 rooms per school, ratio of the toilet rooms and number of students were 1: 24.9. The promotion for exercise, the mean exercise hour were 86 minutes or 2.2 periods per week, The exercise teacher who had physical education bachelor were 50.2%, sport and exercise science were 5.8%, School had outdoor exercise places 65.8% and indoor were 5.1%.

Recommendation, dental health program had low coverage, It should be more concern about food stall outside the school, size of school was one of the key factors to develop program and the criteria of health promoting school evaluation.
