Abstract

               ความเชื่อ และความศรัทธา เป็นสิ่งที่ขับเคลื่อนความคิดของคนในสังคม หากแต่ความคิดเป็นสิ่งที่เลื่อนไหลและเปลี่ยนแปลงได้เสมอขึ้นอยู่กับกระแสทางความคิดใดที่จะสถาปนาขึ้นมาเป็นความเชื่อหลักอันมีผลต่อวิธีคิดของคนหมู่มาก คำถามคือความเชื่อทางสังคมมีความสัมพันธ์กับความจริงหรือไม่ และเรารู้ตัวหรือไม่ว่าเรากำลังตกอยู่ภายใต้วาทกรรมชุดใด หรือมีมายาคติใดที่กำลังขับเคลื่อนความคิดและความเชื่อของเราอยู่

               บทวิเคราะห์ผลงานศิลปะชื่อ “Mindlessly Happy [s]ubject ” ซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในผลงานที่อยู่ในโครงการศิลปะนิพนธ์ “อำนาจแห่งมายาคติในสังคมไทย” นำเสนอภาพสะท้อนถึง กระบวนการ ลักษณะ รวมถึงผล ที่อำนาจมายาคติกระทำต่อความคิดความเชื่อและความเป็นอัตบุคคลในสังคมผ่านวาทกรรมชุดต่างๆ ส่งผลต่อความคิด ความเชื่อ อย่างซึมลึกและแผ่ซ่านไปถึงจิตสำนึก-จิตใต้สำนึกของอัตบุคคลนั้น ส่งผลสู่ความคิด การกระทำและพฤติกรรมเป็นไปในทิศทางเดียวกัน ความสำคัญจึงอยู่ที่ความแตกต่างหลากหลาย และความเป็นไปได้ในรูปแบบอื่นที่กำลังถูกกดทับและผลักออกให้ไปอยู่ชายขอบแห่งความเชื่อในรูปของลักษณะทวิลักษณ์อันตรงข้ามกับความเชื่อกระแสหลัก ปัญหาที่ตามมาคือการปะทะกันทางความคิด การไม่ยอมรับความเห็นที่แตกต่าง และความหลากหลายที่กำลังจะหายไปจากสังคมไทย

               ผลงานจิตรกรรมวิจัยสร้างสรรค์ เป็นผลลัพธ์จากการรวบรวมข้อมูล การสำรวจปรากฏการณ์ การเก็บข้อมูลภาคสนามผ่านการสัมภาษณ์ การสำรวจผ่านการสังเกต และกระบวนการวิเคราะห์ สังเคราะห์ข้อมูล โดยใช้ผลงานจิตรกรรมและกระบวนการจัดการที่เหมาะสม ผ่านวิธีการอุปลักษณ์ (metaphor) จากความหมายตรงสู่ความหมายแฝง โดยใช้วัตถุสัญญะอันหลากหลายเพื่อใช้อธิบายลักษณะนามธรรมทางความเชื่อ สะท้อนสภาวการณ์ปัจจุบันของความลักลั่น ความย้อนแย้ง ในชุดความเชื่อต่างๆที่ผู้มีอำนาจกระทำต่อผู้ที่ตกอยู่ภายใต้อำนาจนั้น รวมทั้งการตั้งคำถามต่อสภาวะความเป็นอัตบุคคลของมนุษย์ภายใต้สนามแห่งวาทกรรมและชุดมายาคติที่ทรงอำนาจยิ่ง

               Beliefs and faiths are great forces which drive people’s thoughts and influence their perception of the world around them. However, they are constantly ever changing, depending on which set of beliefs is currently established and widely practiced in the mainstream. The questions are: 1. Are social believes related to the truth? 2. Is one aware that one is always constructed by either one discourse or another? 3. What myth is a major force that drives our thoughts and believes?

             This art review “Mindlessly Happy [s]ubject” is part of a Ph.D. thesis on the subject "The Power of Mythology in Thai Society" which represents the processes, aspects, as well as consequences of the mythology and how it affects the believes and individuality in society through various sets of discourse. The beliefs as well as the faiths are greatly influenced by the mythology at both conscious and sub-conscious levels, leading to how each individual perceives the world and behaves accordingly. Any thoughts or beliefs deemed different from the mainstream are thus being suppressed, marginalized, and pushed to the other end of the duality. The problems which follow are the clash of ideas, the intolerance, and the diversity which are gradually disappearing from Thai society.

             This work is a result of gathering information, observing, interviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing the data through the paintings. It is done through appropriate managing methods and uses metaphors to convey from direct meanings to hidden ones. There are many symbols in the work which describe abstract beliefs, reflect the paradox which those in power are exercising over those underneath as well as raising a question towards the meaning of individuality under a great discourse and powerful mythology.
