Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study operational process and analyze state and problem to specify possible risk for ornamental fish supply chain in Ratchaburi Province. The researcher used snowball sampling technique and purposive sampling technique with the stakeholders of ornamental fish supply chain in Amphur Banpong, Ratchaburi Province. The data was collected by in-depth interview and non-participant observation with 18 stakeholders including breeders, collectors or wholesalers, and retailers in Amphur Banpong, Ratchaburi Province.
The results revealed that there were six risk factors that might happen and affect upstream to downstream stakeholders of ornamental fish supply chain which were 1.Management and operational risks caused by the lack of operation results recording, production environment, and higher feed cost, 2.Weather related risks caused by climate variability, 3.Marketing related risks caused by economic fluctuations and unregistered farms, 4.Biological and environmental risks caused by ornamental fish diseases and pests, 5. Logistical and infrastructural risks caused by higher fuel cost and transportation expense, 6. Public policy and institutional risks caused by unsteady trade measure increase of trading partners with more rules. The researcher suggested that the stakeholders of ornamental fish supply chain should prioritize the risks to decide which risk was needed to be managed first in order to decrease impact or damage which would occur throughout the supply chain
