Abstract

              บทความนี้มีจุดประสงค์ในการนำเสนอถึงวิธีนำลักษณะของการ์ตูนมาใช้ในผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัยที่นำเสนอประเด็นทางสังคมของไทย เพื่อให้เกิดความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับเทคนิค วิธีการ และแนวความคิด ของศิลปินที่ใช้ลักษณะของการ์ตูนมาเป็นเครื่องมือสื่อสารในฐานะของวิจิตรศิลป์


               บทความนี้ได้กำหนดถึงลักษณะของการ์ตูนเอาไว้เป็น 6 ประการ ได้แก่ การ์ตูนมีลักษณะของศิลปะรูปลักษณ์ (Figurative Art), การ์ตูนมีลักษณะของการเล่าเรื่อง, การ์ตูนมีลักษณะของการทำให้ดูเรียบง่าย, การ์ตูนมีลักษณะของการทำให้ดูเกินจริงหรือบิดเบี้ยว, การ์ตูนมีลักษณะของการสื่อสารด้วยอารมณ์ขัน และการ์ตูนมีลักษณะของการใช้ภาษาถ้อยคำ ซึ่งผู้เขียนได้นำลักษณะของการ์ตูนทั้ง 6 ประการมาเป็นหลักเกณฑ์ในการคัดเลือกศิลปินร่วมสมัยของไทยที่นำเสอประเด็นทางสังคมมาศึกษาวิเคราะห์เป็นจำนวน 5 ท่านได้แก่ เกียรติอนันต์ เอี่ยมจันทร์, ทวีศักดิ์ ศรีทองดี, พัชรพล แตงรื่น, ลำพู  กันเสนาะ และวสันต์ สิทธิเขตต์ 


               จากการศึกษาพบว่าศิลปินร่วมสมัยของไทยนั้นมีวิธีการใช้ลักษณะการ์ตูนในรูปแบบและปริมาณที่แตกต่างกัน ทั้งนี้ศิลปะรูปแบบนี้ยังได้รับความนิยมอย่างแพร่หลายในปัจจุบัน ถึงแม้ว่ารูปแบบกับเนื้อหาจะดูเข้ากันได้ยากก็ตาม ปรากฏการณ์ดังกล่าวเป็นข้อบ่งชี้ให้เห็นได้ว่าปัจจุบันวงการศิลปะร่วมสมัยไทยได้ให้การยอมรับว่าผลงานที่มีลักษณะของการ์ตูนปรากฏอยู่ว่าเป็นผลวิจิตรศิลป์อย่างชัดเจน


 


              This article aims to present the way cartoon is utilized in Thai contemporary art that presents the social issues in Thailand to make an understanding of techniques, methods, and concepts of artists who utilized cartoon as a tool to communicate as fine art.


               The article categorizes the aspects of cartoon into 6 aspects which are 1) cartoon containing elements of figurative art elements, 2) narrative cartoon, 3) visually simple cartoon, 4) surrealist cartoon, 5) comedic cartoon, and 6) cartoon focusing on language and text. The author applies these 6 aspects as criteria to choose Thai contemporary artists who presents the social issues in Thailand to analyse, consisting of 5 artists which are 1) Kiatanan Iamchan, 2) Thaweesak Srithongdee, 3) Patcharapol Tangruen, 4) Lampu Kansanoh and 5) Vasan Sitthiket.


               The study shows that Thai contemporary artists present the social issues with different forms and quantities of aspects of cartoon. Furthermore, these aspects are popular at the present time, although the forms and the contents of the work contradicts each other, indicating that in these days Thai contemporary art movement accepts works that contain elements of cartoon as fine art.
