Abstract

In the past, families in Thai society typically had an extended family structure, including grandparents, father, mother, children and/or grandchildren. Nowadays, the overall culture has changed because of lifestyle trends and imported cultural systems, with changes in concepts, philosophy and ideals. People became focused on interests to gain personal benefits. The artist of “Aesthetics of Love and Warmth in the family” also left his hometown to make a living elsewhere and to raise his own family. As mentioned earlier, he wants to create his artworks illustrating love, warmth and relationships derived from a simple way of life. Nurturing his children in the age of high technology, the artist sees his family as the one and only important thing in life, no matter how far high technology advances. For this reason, this set of artworks aims to record the joyous moments in the family via the artist’s perspective. These dramatic paintings are the product of loving, warm and caring moments within the family. Through the composition of father-mother-child figures, the artist freezes the family moments by picturing them in a style of surrealism. Additionally, with a glimpse of fantasy art, the paintings gracefully counter the wind of cultural and social changes.
