การนิยามความหมายและการให้คุณค่าพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์

Abstract

         งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการนิยามความหมายและการให้คุณค่าพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยก่อนกระแสทุนนิยม (พ.ศ. 2514-2535) และหลังกระแสทุนนิยม (พ.ศ.2536-2558) งานชิ้นนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกและใช้การสังเกตแบบไม่มีส่วนร่วม จากผู้ให้ข้อมูลจำนวน 10 คน

         ผลการวิจัยพบว่า การนิยามความหมายและการให้คุณค่าพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยก่อนกระแสทุนนิยม (พ.ศ. 2514-2535) ถูกมองว่าเป็นสถาบันการศึกษา เป็นพื้นที่เฉพาะ มีการวางกฎระเบียบ ที่เคร่งครัด ใช้สำหรับการเรียนการสอนเท่านั้น แต่เมื่อกระแสทุนนิยมเข้ามาในพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัย (พ.ศ. 2536-2558) การนิยามความหมายและการให้คุณค่าเปลี่ยนแปลงไป พื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยถูกมองว่า เป็นพื้นที่ที่สามารถใช้ประโยชน์ได้นอกเหนือจากการเรียนการสอน กล่าวคือ สามารถใช้ประโยชน์โดยการแปรสภาพพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยบางส่วนในรูปแบบเชิงธุรกิจ เช่น ร้านถ่ายเอกสาร ร้านสะดวกซื้อ ร้านกาแฟ เป็นต้น เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกให้กับนักศึกษา บุคลากรในชุมชนมหาวิทยาลัยและนำมาซึ่งรายได้ของหน่วยงานต่างๆ ซึ่งสะท้อนภาพกระแสทุนนิยมในมหาวิทยาลัย

          This study aimed to meaning definitions and values given to university spaces during the period before (1971-1992) and that after (1993-2015) capitalism came into the campus. The data for this qualitative study were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participant observations with 10 informants.

          The study found that regarding definitions and values given to the university before capitalism arrived the campus (1971-1992), the university spaces were regarded as spaces in an educational institution with strict rules and regulations for them to be used for only teaching and learning. However, after capitalism came into the campus (1993-2015), the definitions and values have changed, and the university spaces have been regarded as spaces that can be utilized other than for only teaching and learning. The spaces can be used for business such as photocopying shops, convenience stores, coffee shops,etc. to facilitate students and personnel in the university community, and to bring in income for various units. This reflects capitalism in the university.
