Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Original research (research article)
original research (empirical) article based on an experiment or study. This type of article will have a methodology section that tells how the experiment was set up and conducted, a results or discussion section, and usually a conclusion section. In psychology courses, you are often asked to find empirical articles. Empirical articles are original research articles.
Review article (literature review or systematic review)
Review article (literature review or systematic review) written to bring together and summarize the results/conclusions from multiple original research articles/studies. This types of article will not usually have a methodology section, and they generally have very extensive bibliographies.
Theoretical article
Theoretical article written to contribute to the theoretical foundations of a field of study. In this type of article, an author will draw upon existing research to form a new theory or explore theories in new ways.
Book review
Book review while written by scholars, book reviews in scholarly journals are meant to provide a summary of a newly published book. Book reviews can lead to the discovery of new sources to investigate.
Editorial
Editorial while written by editors of scholarly journals, these articles are summaries of content included in a specific issue of a journal. Editorials can lead to the discovery of new sources to investigate.

Guidelines for Authors
Journal of the Association of General Surgeons of Thailand under the Royal of Patronage of HM the King welcomes submissions of academic articles or research reports related to the field of surgery. Submissions must be original and not previously published or under consideration by other journals. The editorial board will review and edit submissions and consider them for publication in order of receipt.
Submission Guidelines and Requirements
1. Types of Articles for Submission
1.1 Original Articles
- The manuscript should follow the structure: Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, and References.
- The manuscript should not exceed 10 printed pages of A4 or 4500 words.
1.2 Research Reports
- Should include Abstract, Introduction, Procedures, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, and References.
1.3 Review Articles
- Should provide knowledge, summarize new findings, or discuss topics of interest that readers can apply practically.
1.4 Case Analysis and Disease Reports
- Should include: Abstract, Introduction, relevant information, analysis or discussion, and modern references.
2. Manuscript Preparation

Title: The title should be concise and relevant, clearly reflecting the objective and content of the article. Provide both Thai and English titles.
Author Details: Include the author’s full name in both Thai and English (no abbreviations) with academic titles and institutional affiliations in both languages.
Abstract: A concise summary of essential content, including key statistical data. The abstract should include **Objective, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusion** (except for case report, case series, and review article) The abstract must be in both Thai and English for Thai Language article. For English language articles only English abstracts are required. The abstract should not exceed **350 words.**
Materials and Methods:
- Describe the research methodology, including data sources, data collection methods, sampling techniques, research tools, and statistical analysis methods.
Results:
- Present findings in an organized manner, providing evidence and interpreting the results.
Discussion:
- Discuss whether the findings meet the research objectives, referencing related theories or previous research.
Conclusion:
- Provide a clear and concise summary of the research findings and offer recommendations for practical application or future research.
References:
- Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references, which should follow the **Vancouver system.
- Citation Format:
- Use numerical superscript citation after full stop or comma.
- For English journal references, use journal abbreviations from **Index Medicus.**

3. Manuscript Submission
3.1 Submission Process
- Submit electronic files only via the journal’s website.
3.2 Images and Illustrations
- Line drawings should be in black or dark ink embed within manuscript file.
- Image quality should be at least 30 dpi (both color and black-white scale images)
- Provide separate captions for images and illustrations.
4. Manuscript Review Process
4.1 The editorial board will notify the author of manuscript acceptance via **email.**
4.2 If a manuscript is not accepted, the author will be informed
