Abstract

The treatment of burn patients often results in the hospital being reimbursed by the health insurance system for less than the actual cost. Because some procedures cannot record actual expenses. Hydrosurgery burn wound debridement has to be recorded at the same rate as tangential burn wound excision. Since it is a necessary new procedure, the cost of hydrosurgery has never been studied before. The researcher studied and analyzed the cost recording data of the Community of Burn Nurse Practitioners in Thailand. From the results of the study of 8 patients from 4 hospitals of the Medical School and the Department of Medical Service Ministry of Public Health. A total of 15 procedures were studied with an average burn surface area of 39.0 (10-95) % TBSA, procedure duration of 67.5 (30-180) minutes, an average operating room area of 35.5 square meters, and an average total cost of 9,292.21 Baht (Excluding high-pressure nozzles), Labor cost (LC) 2,160.05 Baht representing 23.25%, Capital cost (CC) 699.38 baht, representing 7.53%, Material cost (MC) 6,432.78 Baht, representing 69.23%. If including the cost of hoses and high-pressure water knife 16,000 baht, totaling 22,432.78, representing the highest proportion of 96.55%. The results of this study on the cost of hydrosurgery burn wound debridement procedure can be used as presentation data to be included in the Ministry of Public Health service charge list and used as the basis for continued study-related research.
