Stress and burnout in Thai oral and maxillofacial surgery residents

Abstract
Oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) residents are particularly vulnerable to suffer from work stress and burnout which may have detrimental effects to professional performance as well as a negative influence on patient care. The aim of this study was to assess the levels, prevalence,and the related factors of occupational stress and burnout among Thai OMFS residents. Question-naire in Google Form were sent to all OMFS residents training in Thailand during February-March 2019. Ninety-six (98.0%) completed questionnaires were sent back from totally 98 residents.Thirty-seven residents (38.5%) could cope with stress, whereas 32 (33.3%), 23 (24.0%), and 4 residents (4.2%) had mild, moderate, and severe burnout, respectively.
