Predicting Factors of Pelvic Lymph Node Metastasis in Endometrial Cancer
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective To determine the predicting factors of pelvic lymph node metastasis in patients with apparently early-stage endometrial cancer.
Methods Data of apparently early-stage endometrial cancer patients, primary surgically treated at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital between January 1994 to December 2000, were analyzed by retrospective chart reviews.
Results All 222 endometrial cancer patients primary surgically treated, 156 (70%) patients were surgically staged. Fifteen patients (9.6%) had pelvic lymph node metastasis. Age, menopausal status, body mass index (BMI), histologic subtype, histologic grade, depth of myometrial invasion, isthmic part involvement, cervical and
adnexal metastasis were analyzed, compared with pelvic lymph node status. In univariate and multivariate analysis, histologic grade, depth of myometrial invasion and cervical metastasis were the significant predicting factors.
Conclusion The predicting factors of pelvic lymph node metastasis are histologic grade, depth of myometrial invasion and cervical metastasis, which alert gynecologists to consider retroperitoneal lymph node assessment.
