Egg and Ovarian Tissue Donation : The Door For Progress in Infertility Treatment
Main Article Content
Abstract
Infertility is a common problem found in up to one sixth of the couples. There are several causes of infertility. One of the major causes is ovarian disorder. Some couples are infertile because the women are unable to produce eggs at all. This may occur because their ovaries have never developed properly, because of ovarian failure (Premature menopause), or because surgery or chemotherapy has made them sterile. Some women who can produce eggs are carrier of inherited disorders which are passed on through the mother's egg, for example, Duchene's muscular dystrophy or haemophilia. Some women do not respond to the drugs used to provide eggs or produce possibly abnormal eggs. These women can often be helped by receiving donated eggs.
