Abstract

Objective To determine Umbilical cord plasma zinc levels in normal and growth retarded fetuses.


Main outcome measures Umbilical cord plasma zinc levels in normal and growth retarded fetuses.


Results in growth retarded fetuses, umbilical cord plasma zinc levels tended to be low, but was not significantly different from that in the normal fetuses.


Conclusion in growth retarded fetuses a low umbilical cord plasma zinc level is probably a parallel phenomenon and not necessarity an etiological factor.
