Abstract

from chronic pelvic pain.(2,5) In addition to these complications, postsurgical adhesions waste surgical time and operating theater resources and increase the difficulty and risk of surgical re-entry.

Postsurgical adhesion formation is a common problem in clinical practice and a major cause of morbidity and expense, as well as an occasional cause of mortality. It may cause infertility, abdominal and pelvic pain and bowel obstruction. Despite increased understanding of the mechanism of normal and abnormal peritoneal healing, progress in the prevention of adhesion formation has been limited.
