Viral Carcinogenesis of the Cervix
Main Article Content
Abstract
Since the initial report in 1977 by Meisels et al(1) linking pre-invasive squamous lesions of the cervix with an infection by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), there has been a rapid expansion of knowledge in the field of viral carcinogenesis of the cervix. Much of the increased knowledge was only made possible by developments in recombinant DNA technology.
