Main Article Content
Abstract
Three hundred and eighty-three women underwent genetic amniocente sis (A/C) for chromosome diagnosis. Two hundred and eighty-two were observed throughout their pregnancies and deliveries. Almost all AIC were performed by ob stetricians who had been trained in prenatal diagnosis and genetic A/C. The risks of the procedure were minimal and the results were reliable. Three women had spontaneous abortions and eight pregnancies were induced. Two hundred and sev enty-one were delivered after 28 weeks gestation. Only fifteen women had prema ture deliveries. The caesarean section rate in the series was 44%. There was one stillbirth and two neonatal deaths. (Thai J Obstet Gynaecol 1990; 2: 87-93.)
