Abstract

Non-communicable diseases are diseases related to lifestyles with a long duration and incurable. When people have chronic diseases affects to the economy, society, and well-being, and national health expenses as well. Prevention and control of chronic disease involves reducing the risk factors of chronic disease. The use of technology is an option that can increase efficiency in providing information to patients, increase monitoring and stimulate behavior change. Moreover, the use of technology increase access to health services, and increase continuous and consistent communication connections between health personnel and patients. The use of technology is a strategy that increase patients self-management and improve their behavior, especially patients with non-communicable diseases who are able to take care of themselves and have access to technology. Therefore, applying health information and communication technology to nursing is significant issues resulting in improved health behaviors and health outcomes. Therefore, technology can be a strategy to improving the quality of health services by choosing technology that is accessible simple and relevant to the patient's daily life context responding to specific needs and characteristics of the disease, including having process for managing patient information that is legal to prevent violation of personal information.
