Factors affecting intention to stop substance abuse among users addicted treatment at Thanyarak Udonthani Hospital

Abstract

This research aims to study the level of abstinence intention and factors affecting abstinence intention users addicted treatment at Thanyarak Udonthani Hospital. The sample was 106 users addicted treatment at Thanyarak Hospital, Udon Thani. The instruments were abstinence intention test and factors affecting abstinence intention that the researchers developed. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistic and path analysis.

            The results showed that  1) attitude toward the behavior at high level (x̄ = 5.53, SD = 1.32),  subjective norm at the highest level (x̄ = 6.65, SD = 0.84) and abstinence intention at the highest level    (x̄ = 6.22, SD = 1.30) 2) factors affecting abstinence intention users addicted treatment at Thanyarak Udonthani Hospital found that (1) intention to do Behavior 2) attitude toward the behavior 3) subjective norm and 4) perceived behavioral control. According to the subjective norm, the most influence on the abstinence intention in Thanyarak Udonthani Hospital, followed by perceived behavioral control and attitude toward the behavior, respectively
