Abstract
This correlational research aimed to examine factors related to evidence-based practice in normal birth care of intrapartum nurses. A convenience sampling technique was used to recruit a sample of 120 intrapartum nurses working in hospitals in health region 5. Data were collected from April to May 2018. Research instruments included a demographic questionnaire and questionnaires regarding knowledge, attitude, supportive, and evidence-based practice in normal birth care. Their reliabilities were .90, .75, .74, and .71, respectively. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficients.
The results revealed that the sample employed evidence-based practice in normal birth care at a good level (M = 35.16, SD = 3.91). Knowledge and supportive evidence-based nursing practice were positively correlated to evidence-based practice in normal birth care
(r = .32, p<.001 and r = .42, p< .001, respectively). These findings suggest that intrapartum nurses should have knowledge, and administrators should support intrapartum nurses for practicing with the evidence-based to further develop quality of care in delivery room.
