Conservative treatment of ameloblastoma

Abstract

              Ameloblastoma is the most common benign odontogenic tumor of the jaw, slow-growing with relative locally aggressive behavior. There are many features about this tumor. This article presents the case of a 17-year-old woman with progressive swelling of the right cheek. Clinical presentation and radiograph showed a large cystic or cyst-liked tumor of the jaw. Incisional biopsy was done and the specimen was sent for pathological examination. The
rendered histological diagnosis was ameloblastoma. The tumor was treated using conservative approach, such as marsupialization followed by enucleation. The patient has been followed up for 1 year without postoperative complication. She displays facial symmetry and remained clinically and radiographically disease-free.
