Abstract

We reported the clinical and histopathologic findings of two patients, one had tender erythematous papules and plaques on both palms and the other one had violaceous papules and plaques on the inner sides of both upper and lower extremities. The first patient had arthritis which is associated with an autoimmune disorder and the second patient had autoimmune hepatitis and autoimmune thyroiditis. Histopathologically, of both cases showed similar changes consisting of an interstitial granulomatous dermatitis involving mostly the lower reticular dermis. Histiocytes were the predominant cellular component, arranged interstitially in palisade pattern in concert with few numbers of neutrophils and eosinophils. Interstitial granulomatous dermatitis may have various clinical pictures, including linear cords, papules and as in our cases plaques. This condition is often associated with systemic autoimmune diseases.
