Abstract

Obesity has reached worldwide epidemic. The hazards of health from obesity involve many internal organs such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular diseases, gall bladder diseases etc. All health professionals should be proactive in this field. Dermatologists who may the first who recognized the skin changes such as acanthosis nigricans, striae and hersutism. They should be able to provide the proper advise. This article reviews the recent knowledge in epidemiology, etiology and obesity-relate comorbidity both to general health and specifically to the skin. Diet, exercise, drugs and surgical treatments for obesity were also included.
