Average of ureteral length in Thai population

Abstract

Objective: Inappropriate used of ureteric catheter associated with catheter related morbidity. This study was performed to study mean ureteral length in Thai population aim for reference for surgeons to choose suitable length of ureteric catheter.
Materials and Methods: The information of ureteral length by measure from excretory urography of 135 patients who got this investigation in Phramongkutklao hospital.
Results: The mean right ureteral length is 23.05+1.08 centimeters and mean left ureteral length is 23.48 +1.17 centimeters ( P<0.001 ). However, there is no statistic significant of mean ureterral length of male and female.
Conclusion: The mean ureteral length of Thai population is no statistic different of male and female. The mean right ureteral length is 23.05 and left ureteral length is 23.48 centimeters.
