A COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION MODEL OF INSTITUTE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION BASED ON “THE TRIANGLE THAT MOVES THE MOUNTAIN CONCEPT”

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a community health promotion model of Institute of Physical Education based on the triangle that moves the mountain concept through combination of research methods between survey research and action research. Steps for the research project included the following: 1) Studying states and problems of health promotion, World Health Organization and the triangle that moves the mountain concept; 2) Studying perception and expectation role of Institute of Physical Education by using semi-structured interview from 19 executives of Institute of Physical Education nationwide and collecting the data from three groups of 1025 samples totally, 2.1) 207 executives and lecturers of Institute of Physical Education nationwide, 2.2) 119 chief of local sectors, volunteers of public health, and local intellectual teachers and 2.3) 680 sport members; 3) Developing a community health promotion model of Institute of Physical Education based on the triangle that moves the mountain concept; and 4) Employing expert judgment to validate a community health promotion model of Institute of Physical Education based on the triangle that moves the mountain concept.


          The results showed that the developed community health promotion model of Institute of Physical Education based on the triangle that moves the mountain concept comprised main components as follows: 1) Building wisdom power: Institute of Physical Education was the leader of integrating a new body of knowledge consisting of physical education, sports science, local wisdom and knowledge of public health by grounded theory methodology, to educate the people for health promotion, 2) Synergizing policy power: Institute of Physical Education was the leader of combining the policy of Institute of Physical Education, the policy of local education, the policy of local administration organization, the policy of ministry of public health to be one policy for a community health promotion in order to enable people to solve problems by themselves about critical mass for health such as Non-Communicable Disease (NCDs) and promote the public policy for the local situation and 3) Sustaining social power: Institute of Physical Education was the leader of supporting the local people in all ages based on building the wisdom power and synergizing policy power to improve themselves by their own under the support of all policy organization and to  empower people to ask for the healthy space and activities to improve the critical mass.
