DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM ROCK CLIMBING STANDARD COURSES FOR ANDAMAN SEA COAST AREA

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop standard of tourism rock climbing courses for Andaman Sea Coast Area. The courses consisted of 4 levels: certificate in basic, intermediate, advance, and instructor profession. There are 160 volunteers between the age group of 13 and upper years were used as the subjects. There were 3 data collection instruments such as semi structured in-depth interview, 5-point Likert-type scales, and rock climbing skill and knowledge test. Data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The statistical significance was set at 0.05.
Most of the subjects who participated in this study are Asian male at 25-29 years of age. The courses as mentioned above indicated the high content validity ratio (CVR) higher than .49, according to the expert numbers in this study that was 15, numerical value of the Lawshe table was 0.49. The efficiency empirical approach scales (E1/E2) of most courses were higher than 80/80 percent of standard criterion. While the effective index were considered to be at “good” level. However, this study was also found that the subjects were full of skills and knowledge in rock climbing. More importantly, their satisfaction on 4 course levels was found at a“high” level. There were no differences in the satisfaction as mentioned above between male and female, and among Asians, European, and American. All four levels of tourism rock climbing courses of Andaman Sea Coast Area which were developed by the researcher, can be standard courses systematically and fully equipped with property characteristics of curriculum development in all respects. More specifically, the four course levels as mentioned were satisfied at a“high” level by all tourists who participated in this study.
