TOURIST BEHAVIOR ON CRUISE SHIP TOWARDS RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES: A CASE STUDY OF LAEM CHABANG PORT IN CHON BURI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aimed to study tourist behavior on a cruise ship towards recreational activities: A case study of Laem Chabang Port in Chon Buri Province, to study tourism destination management connecting to tourist behavior on a cruise ship towards recreational activities: A case study of Laem Chabang Port, Chon Buri Province, and to analyze tourism management guidelines for tourists on a cruise ship: a case study of Laem Chabang Port, Chon Buri Province. The research was conducted on the basis of a survey research design. Data were collected from 400 copies of the questionnaire.


          The research results could be concluded as follow: Most tourists on the cruise ship were women, aged 31 - 40 years, married, graduated with a bachelor’s degree, self-employed / freelancers, had income 50,001 baht and over.


          The main purpose of travelling on the cruise ship was leisure travel with their family. Most of them travelled for 2-5 times and had 3-5 overnight stays. They most likely spent time travelling during long holidays/vocation. The most favorite activities were a stage play entertainment lounge and club. The person accompanying them in travelling the most was their family. They were more likely to spend their money on recreational activities, ranging from 20,001 to 50,000 baht.  Most of them knew about cruise ship companies from websites. The factor affecting their decision making to travel on cruise ships was promotion. The most common problem they found while travelling on cruise ships was cleanliness. The maximum of recommendations for travelling on cruise ships was to travel.
