แผลกดทับเป็นภาวะแทรกซ้อนที่สามารถเกิดได้กับคนทุกวัย ไม่เว้นแม้แต่ในเด็กเล็กที่นอนติดเตียง มีข้อจำกัดการเคลื่อนไหว อาจเกิดแผลกดทับที่บริเวณท้ายทอยได้ วัยรุ่นที่ประสบอุบัติเหตุ และมีอาการบาดเจ็บที่กระดูกสันหลังไม่สามารถลุกเดินช่วยเหลือตนเองได้ อาจเกิดแผลกดทับบริเวณก้นกบและสะโพก
