Evaluation of the oral health promotion project in Tambon Khanejue Healthy Teeth Happy Life Network, Maeramat district, Tak province

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the oral health promotion project in Tambon Khanejue Healthy Teeth Happy Life Network, Maeramat district, Tak province, using CIPP model.  Samples were 4 project coordinators, 9 school administrators, 9 health teachers, 53 class teachers and others, 20 public health staff and 350 grade 4-6 students. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaires, relevant policies reveiw and indept interview. The quantitative and qualitative data were analysed by descriptive statistics and content analysis, respectively. As context evaluation, the project principles were conformed to public health and education policies. Goals and strategies of the project were appropriate. According to input evaluation, health teachers’ experience and understanding were sufficient as well as support of school administrators but staff numbers, health teachers’ knowledge, budget, and material were not adequate. Public health staff had sufficient input to perform the project. The process evaluation, planned activities and service were performed. The project was standardized administered and managed. Related personnel participated in project implementation but the monitoring was not continued. The product evaluation showed the effectiveness. Students’ knowledge and understanding about oral health, desirable dental health behaviors, and oral health status were good.
