An audio dentoform: tooth-brushing teaching for visual impaired people

Abstract

This learning innovation for visual impaired people using audio tactile performance concept, composed of a dentoform, an electric circuit, a memory card, a loudspeaker, 6 switch, plugs, a toothbrush and a box. It worked by pressing a switch on the dentoform then there was an advice voice on specific toothbrush placing and brushing technique. The content validity of the innovation was examined by experts. After improvement, it was first used by 34 visual impaired persons. The evaluation result was gathered using a structured questionnaire which composed issues were the pattern, language and content, and time used in learning. The participants were asked and a recorder took the specified answer during October 2014 and March 2015. Among the participants, 58.8 percent was male and 38.2 percent was the age over 56 years. They satisfied with the pattern, design, easily used, easily understandable and clear meanings, and appropriate time used but light advice-voice. For further evaluation, brushing skill and tooth-cleanness among age groups should be concerned which the changes should be objectively measured.
