โรคกล้ามเนื้อตาอ่อนแรง (ocular myasthenia gravis, OMG) เป็นโรคที่เกิดจากการทำงานผิดปกติของระบบภูมิคุ้มกันที่สร้างแอนติบอดีซึ่งส่งผลต่อ post-synaptic proteins บริเวณรอยต่อระหว่างปลายประสาทกับกล้ามเนื้อ (neuromuscular junction, NMJ) ทำให้โครงสร้าง postsynaptic membrane ผิดปกติ อุบัติการณ์ของโรคประมาณ 1.13 ต่อประชากร 100,000 คน การวินิจฉัยในปัจจุบันอาศัยจากอาการทางคลินิก ร่วมกับการทดสอบทางคลินิกได้แก่ การทดสอบด้วยน้ำแข็ง การทดสอบด้วยยา และการตรวจไฟฟ้าวินิจฉัยโดยวิธี single-fiber electromyography การตรวจทางห้องปฏิบัติการเพื่อหาแอนติบอดีต่อ acetylcholine receptors , muscle-specific tyrosine kinase และ low-density lipoprotein 4 ซึ่งจะตรวจพบได้น้อยกว่า 50 ผู้ป่วย OMG จะมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงดำเนินโรคเป็น generalized myasthenia gravis (GMG) ได้ประมาณร้อยละ 20–60 การรักษาที่ได้ผลดีคือยากลุ่ม cholinesterase inhibitors (pyridostigmine) แต่ในผู้ป่วยบางรายที่มีปัญหาเกี่ยวกับการกลอกตาร่วมอาจต้องใช้ยากดภูมิร่วมด้วย ผลตรวจทางห้องปฏิบัติการมีส่วนช่วยในการประเมินความรุนแรงของโรคและการตอบสนองต่อการรักษา ในบทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมการวินิจฉัย การสืบค้น และการรักษาโรค OMG ในปัจจุบัน
