Ethical Standards for Editors, Reviewers, and Authors of the Journal of Chulabhorn Royal Academy

Duties of the Editor

  1. The editor is responsible for receiving manuscripts and managing the double-blind peer review process prior to publication.
  2. The editor oversees the entire peer review and publication process to ensure alignment with the journal’s aims, scope, and academic standards.
  3. The editor supports academic freedom of expression within the boundaries of ethics and morality.
  4. The editor ensures that published content is academically accurate and ethically appropriate.
  5. The editor will not consider manuscripts that contain defamatory, insulting, or disrespectful statements toward the monarchy, religious institutions, governmental institutions, or any content that violates moral standards.
  6. The editor continually works to improve the academic quality of the journal.
  7. Manuscripts are evaluated impartially, without bias toward authors or reviewers.
  8. Personal opinions unrelated to academic merit must not influence the editor’s decision to accept or reject a manuscript.
  9. The editor must not reproduce or rewrite content from a submitted manuscript for personal benefit or for the benefit of a research group.
  10. The editor must not seek or engage in any business-related benefits with authors, readers, or reviewers.
  11. The editor must not disclose any personal information of authors or sensitive information contained in manuscripts unless written permission is granted.
  12. When issues arise that exceed the editor’s authority, the matter shall be referred to the Editorial Board for a consensus-based decision.

Duties of Authors

  1. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or publicly disseminated, nor be under consideration elsewhere, including websites, blogs, social media, print media, journals, books, magazines, or any other platforms.
  2. Authors must provide an ethics approval certificate if the research involves human subjects, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Research Council of Thailand.
  3. Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism. Research data must not be manipulated, altered, concealed, or omitted without justified explanation, and must not be fabricated or falsified.
  4. Authors must properly cite related work in accordance with academic standards.
  5. Authors must not violate copyrights regarding content, data, or images included in the manuscript.
  6. All co-authors must give consent and acknowledge the submission of the manuscript to the Journal of Chulabhorn Royal Academy.
  7. All statements within the manuscript represent the authors’ views and are the responsibility of the authors and their team.
  8. The submitted work must be original, unpublished, and not under review by any other journal.

Duties of Reviewers

  1. Reviewers agree to evaluate manuscripts willingly and within the scope of their academic expertise.
  2. Reviewers will not know the authors’ identities until the manuscript is published (double-blind process).
  3. Reviewers must inform the editor if they find any personal or professional connection to the manuscript content to avoid conflicts of interest.
  4. Reviewers must not use the manuscript or its findings for their own research or for developing new works.
  5. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic quality and provide written justification for recommendations—including revisions, acceptance, or rejection—to the editor.
  6. Reviews must be completed within the timeframe specified by the editor.
