PROMOTNG FAMILY QUALITY OF LIFE OF FAMILY WHO HAVE INDIVIDUAL WITH AUTISM IN KHON KAEN PROVINCE THROUGH SOCIAL SKILL TRAINING PROGRAM

Families with disabilities were affected by the quality of life, especially the family who have individual with autism who want to have social interaction according to age growth. The development of social skills depends mainly on the family. The purpose of this research is to enhance the family quality of life (FQOL) through social skills training program. Using quasi-experimental research as part of the completed work. The research tools included the FQOL questionnaire, consisting of 30 items, had a reliability of 0.93 and social skills training program developed by the researcher consisting of 1) basic knowledge about autism 2) parenting skills 3) social skills on discipline at home 4) social skills on self-management when angry 5) social skills for approaching friends and 6) social stories. The sample consisted of 52 families who have individual with autism aged 12 -20 years. The researcher distributed FQOL questionnaire to answer and selected the lowest score to be the experimental group of 10 people and the comparison group of 10 people. The experimental group would receive the 6 weeks course training by 3 hours per week, follow-up by home program and home visits. The results showed that FQOL were not different in two group before receiving the program. After the program it was found that FQOL in the experimental group were higher than comparison group (p=0.026). The FQOL of the experimental group showed that, after the program there was higher mean score than before in both overall FQOL and in each factor (p <0.001). As follow, the family relationships was the highest difference (9.58), then the family rearing (8.06), the social and emotional support (7.90), the well-being (6.00) and the information and welfare (5.00)
