Abstract

This case report presents the orthodontic correction of a transposed permanent maxillary left canine (tooth 23) in a 12-year-old Thai female. The patient presented with a high labial eruption of tooth 23. Extraoral examination revealed a symmetrical face, normal vertical proportions, and a slightly convex profile with competent lips. Intraoral examination showed a retained primary maxillary left canine (tooth 63), with tooth 23 erupted superior to the gingival zenith of the permanent maxillary left lateral incisor (tooth 22). Additional findings included mild mandibular anterior crowding, a 2 mm left dental midline deviation, Class I molar and right canine relationships, and a Class II left canine relationship. The treatment plan involved the extraction of tooth 63, followed by the correction of the transposed canine and overall malocclusion using comprehensive fixed orthodontic appliances. Post-treatment evaluation demonstrated ideal tooth position, alignment, and periodontal health. Follow-up examinations confirmed a stable, satisfactory occlusion.
